About UWP-TV

While its primary goal is to provide a hands-on educational opportunity for students, the people who make up UWP-TV work as a team to provide the UW-Parkside community with multimedia campus news, information, and entertainment.

The Parkside Student Government Association ended its Spring 2007 semester by passing a support bill for a student television station project. It officially requested all possible support from UW-Parkside staff, faculty and administration. Firmly established by students in August 2007, UWP-TV continues to grow as UW-Parkside's newest student media organization.

Initially, the organization made videos however possible; mainly by borrowing camcorders and working in the campus computer labs. It progressed in March 2008, when the Student Organization Council approved a limited request for UWP-TV's own equipment. Now the organization will have its own prosumer digital camcorder (Canon GL2), tripod, lighting system, wireless microphone system, and other basic accessories.

The "Headquarters" of UWP-TV is located through Comm Arts D153, a.k.a. Media Services. The room was actually built to be a television station back in the 1970s. Since then it has developed into a classroom with distance-learning capabilities, though the original lighting structures and control boards remain. Construction that's pending in the near future may soon force UWP-TV to find its own new studio space.

All UW-Parkside students are welcome to participate in all parts of UWP-TV, regardless of major, race, religion, ethnicity, marital status, sexual orientation, gender, age, or ability. Click here to download UWP-TV's organizational constitution.
